[100605] Sorry Sorry, look who’s coming to SG !!

Korean boyband Super Junior is coming here for live gig

K-POP fans, get ready to squeal – Korean R&B-dance sensation Super Junior, famed for its monster hit Sorry Sorry, is headed to Singapore for its first live gig here.

Presented by Samsung and SingTel, the group will be in town on June 6 for a private showcase at Resorts World Sentosa.

Nearly 2,000 lucky Samsung mobile phone users will get to see these guys in the flesh.

And here are some things you need to know about the 10-man outfit that has taken Asia by storm.

Yesung goes solo!
How do you stand out in a group of 10?

For 25-year-old Yesung, his solo effort released in March, the theme song of Korean drama Cinderella’s Sister, was an instant hit.

It topped several charts and was song of the month on popular Korean social network service Cyworld.

In an interview with the Korean press, Yesung expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support shown by Super Junior fans: ‘I’m very, very happy to know the song has done so well…I never expected such great response.

‘Personally, I love the song to bits, it was extremely suitable for Cinderella’s Sister as it really conveyed the emotions in the drama.’

Hooked on Twitter
Super Junior members Shindong, Sungmin, both 24, and Donghae, 23, are avid users of Twitter and tweet on a regular basis.

In their hotel rooms, they spend most of their time in front of their computer screens.

Once, Donghae was feeling peckish and wanted to order food. Though band mate Heechul, 26, was in the room next to his, Donghae chose to tweet him instead of just popping over to ask if he wanted to eat.

Wedding bells for Shindong

It’s no secret for fans of Super Junior – boyish Shindong, 24, is getting hitched.

Sharp-eyed fans deciphered a coded message he left in the thank you section of Super Junior’s latest album Bonamana, where he professed his love for girlfriend Nali.

The message, cryptically written using a combination of letters and numbers, reportedly meant: ‘Nali, let’s get married, I will love you forever.’

Super Junior’s management company has confirmed that Shindong has indeed proposed to his girlfriend, but declined to provide further details on the mysterious ‘Nali’.

At a recent press conference, Shindong opened up about his relationship and told reporters he hopes to ‘get married by October this year’.

From 13 to 10…but only nine are coming to Singapore
The number of members in Super Junior has dropped from 13 to 10, with the departure of Han Geng, 26, (he’s facing an ongoing lawsuit with the group’s management), Kibum, 22, (he’s pursuing other interests) and Kang-In, 25, (he’s serving in the military).

Singapore fans will be disappointed to know that one more member will be left out when the group comes here – 23-year-old Siwon.

After completing the drama series Oh! My Lady, Siwon, best known for his role in the Hong Kong historical-action film A Battle Of Wits, went for minor surgery on an inflamed salivary gland.

And his management has decided to ‘let him rest’ and skip this overseas tour.
